Hair Dusting Is The Best Way To Ditch Split Ends & Save Your Hair Length – Here’s How To DIY

You’re not alone if you dread a routine trim with your hairstylist because of the fear of leaving the salon with a full-blown haircut. While regular trims are key to keeping your hair healthy and free from frayed ends, it comes with the risk of accidentally ending up with a bob. But DW boo, if you wanna lose the split ends without compromising your hard-earned length, let us introduce you to the new hair-cutting technique on the block. Enter – Hair dusting. The technique involves removing only the split ends, strand by strand. This helps you keep the length of your mane and part ways with frazzled ends.

This micro-trimming technique is a surefire way to get healthier, thicker, and lustrously voluminous strands. Plus, it’s easy enough to DIY. If you wanna take matters into your own hands, we’re spilling all the details ahead.

What Does Hair Dusting Mean?

If you are on a quest for Rapunzel-esque locks, you probably know that split ends can be a hitch when it comes to achieving healthy and long locks. If not fixed on time, they can worsen and may even lead to hair breakage. It’s no secret that there’s no way to mend a split end and cutting it off is the only way to mend it. Yeah, the hairdressers always cut off more than they said they will. That’s when hair dusting comes into the picture. Hair dusting is perf for those who want to keep their length, but still want to get rid of split pieces and frazzled ends. It involves getting cleaning up the end or tips of your strands without taking off any length.

Is Dusting Healthy For Hair?

Hair dusting is all about cutting off the unhealthy parts of the strands to reveal healthy-looking ends. What’s unhealthy for hair is using heat styling tools too often, bleaching your strands, and applying rough friction to your hair. When using a heat styling tool, it’s important to curb the damage by using nourishing masks and serums. Also, getting rid of split ends is imperative as they are unhealthy for your hair.

Here’s How To Dust Your Hair On Your Own

Step 1: Start With Dry Hair

If you have curls and want to make things easier, dry and straighten your hair first. This will make it easier to see the split ends and flyaways that stick out and need to be trimmed.

Step 2: Section It Off

Try to divide your hair into small sections. Work on one section at a time and clip away the rest. If the section is too thick, you won’t be able to achieve the best results.

Step 3: Twist And Cut

One of the best ways to highlight your split ends is by twisting each section until you see the flyaways sticking out. We recommend taking small sections that are less than a quarter of an inch thick. Twist it and cut the little hairs that are sticking out.

Step 4: Repeat Steps 2 & 3

Repeat the process until you’re done with the whole head of hair. So easy!

Buh-bye split ends!
