While I went to watch KJo’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani with no sky-high expectations, I came back with my heart fluttering with a hundred emotions. From opulent sets and a typical Dharma background score to a massive star cast, the movie was a treat to watch. However, it was the over-the-top styling in the movie that made us fall in love with her characters even more! My personal fave? Alia Bhatt’s gorgeous chiffon sarees which lit up every room she entered. But what if I tell you that her best look in the movie was as a bride? In case you missed it, here’s a quick reminder of why Alia’s bridal look deserves more attention. Scroll down:
Ain’t Nobody Like An MM Bride!
For Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Karan Johar and ace designer Manish Malhotra shook hands and created magic with their cult aesthetic. Be it Rani dancing her heart out on the Kashmir valleys in an intricately embroidered white chiffon saree or her Durga Pujo look featuring a classic hot red and golden Bengali saree, Manish made sure to make us fall in love with the traditional clothing piece all over again. But safe to say, it was her dulhan avatar at the end of the film that stood out a class apart! The glitz, the glamm, the drama- it was all there.
After Rocky and Rani’s love story witnessed its happy ending, the film showcases how the two got married! On her D-day, Rani (Alia Bhatt) could be seen wearing a classic beige-hued lehenga with traditional golden embroidery and heavy border detailing. Her look was amped up with a sequined and embroidered yellow-coloured blouse with a plunging neckline and a pop of red towards the hem.
While scalloped dupattas have been ruling the trend charts over the years, MM kept Rani’s bridal dupatta classy yet dramatic. It features gold-red hued coins and leaf-shaped sequin work to provide the required depth to the overall look.
Full points to the extravagant maatha patti, stately choker neckpiece, and bespoke studded bangles which made her entire look a sight to behold!
Complementing her dulhaniya, Rocky wore a hand-embroidered white and golden sherwani. What added the finishing touch to her West Delhi boy persona was the emerald layered necklace paired with diamond studs. A 10/10 serve!
When the best of the industry collaborates, you can expect nothing less than this. I can honestly see a lot of brides taking inspo from Rani’s dulhan avatar for the upcoming shaadi season!
