‘Her Existence Is All About Being KJo’s Puppet’: Kangana Ranaut Responds To Alia Bhatt’s Apology
In the cut-throat world of Bollywood, it’s not uncommon to witness controversies erupting every now and then between actors, directors or co-stars. Lately, some of the most amplified controversies in the industry seem to be centred around Queen star Kangana Ranaut. From assuming directorial duties for Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi after director Krish decided to walk out, to accusing him and co-star Mishti Chakraborty for not making any efforts to promote the film, Kangana recently claimed she would ‘expose’ those who ‘ganged up’ against her during its release.

In a recent interview, Kangana revealed that many people from the industry, including Alia Bhatt, failed to come forward in support of her ambitious film Manikarnika. She emphasised that though she attended the screening of Raazi, and even had a conversation with Alia about it, it was ‘petty’ of her to not reciprocate the same form of response.

When Alia was questioned about these accusations, she clarified that she wasn’t aware of what was going on as she had been busy with her upcoming movie Gully Boy. “I hope she doesn’t dislike me and I don’t think she dislikes me. I don’t think I have done anything intentionally to upset her. If I have, I will apologise to her on a personal level,” admitted Alia. She further expressed that she had always admired Kangana, as an actor and a person. “She is very outspoken and it takes courage to be that way. So yes, what can I say, I don’t want to upset anybody,” said Alia.
However, it looks like the fences between the actresses won’t be mending anytime soon. According to recent media reports, Kangana admitted that she reached out to Alia and asked what made her think Manikarnika was Kangana’s ‘personal controversy’ when in fact, “it’s a film whole nation is talking about and wondering why Bollywood is keeping quiet on such a relevant work.” She questioned, “if I can be courteous and gracious to acknowledge her requests for encouraging relevant work that she does, why is she so scared to see my film?”.

She even suggested that Alia should “grow some spine” and support an important film about women empowerment and nationalism. “If she doesn’t have a voice of her own and her existence is all about being KJo’s (Karan Johar) puppet, then I don’t consider her successful. I told her if she is only focussing on earning bucks and not raise a voice, then her success has no value,” she said. Furthermore, she said that she hoped Alia understood the true meaning of success and her responsibilities, and rise above the “Nepo gang life” which is restricted to giving and taking favours.
Meanwhile Alia, whose relationship with her ‘rumoured’ boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor has been making headlines for a while, finally gave a befitting reply to a publication when pressed about their marriage plans. “I think people should now take a break. We have had two beautiful weddings last year. I think we can chill now, watch movies, work in movies, and rest can be seen later.”, she said. Looks like we’ll have to wait a while before we get to see another beautiful wedding in the B-town!
