If a woman is curvy, she’s called “fat”. If a woman is petite, she’s called “flat”. If a woman gets cosmetic surgery, she’s called “fake”. And if a woman doesn’t give a shit about any of this, she’s trolled until she breaks. Recently, model, influencer, and Plixxo Superstar Alanna Panday, Ananya Panday’s cousin, took to Instagram sharing a very small yet largely disturbing part of the hate messages she receives every day, standing up against trolls and cyberbullying. The 24-year-old model has been often body-shamed for her bikini pictures on social media. But it’s about time she spoke up.
“This happened months ago, I wish I had spoken about it sooner, but waking up and reading things like this just became normal to me–it’s an everyday part of my life. Here’s 1% of what I have to wake up and read every day,” she captioned recalling how a fellow woman said that she deserved to be gang-raped because she posted a picture in a bikini.
“I don’t understand how you can wish that upon someone else’s child,” wrote Alanna further saying, “Educated women in our country still talk/think like this,” sharing a screenshot of the said woman’s profile. Her mother and celebrity fitness expert Deanne Panday also added in the comment section saying:
“This is the same person who sent me messages saying I am bringing up my daughter in the wrong way and I should be ashamed .. that you are influenced by Bollywood so that’s why you wear less clothes. She also said you have no assets .. so you wear these clothes for attention. She said a lot more as it’s all on your previous Instagram post .. her nasty comments.”
Alanna took this post live right after posting a mirror selfie wearing her intimates to prove her point and with a heartfelt testimony calling out the trolls who body-shamed her. Above it all, the fact that it is women who do this to other women, in the woke 21st century, is simply heartbreaking. She wrote:
“Since 2020 is the year we don’t keep quiet – Yes I’m “FLAT”, yes I have a “small ass”, No being skinny does NOT mean you have an eating disorder. I know I’m not perfect, I still LOVE my body. Stop body shaming women. I have to wake up every day and read the nastiest comments, comments from people that don’t know me as human. What’s worse than waking up to hateful comments about my body every day, is that it comes from other women. I didn’t choose this body I was born with it. Am I less of a woman cause I’m not “curvy”? Hypothetically if I was one of those women who circum to this pressure and undergo surgery, I’m then “plastic” and “fake”, right? Basically, you’ll are impossible to please. Hiding behind a screen has made it so easy for people to hate. It doesn’t matter if you have 5000, 500K or 5 million followers, don’t forget that there’s another human with FEELINGS at the other end.“
“The next time you decide to channel your anger towards someone you don’t know on Instagram, stop and rethink. The world could use more love and less assholes right now ❤️🌈,” she concluded. What a powerful message, Alanna! And just like us, her friends and family came strong in support of her. Ananya Panday commented, “YESSSSS LANSHUUUUU TELL EM ❤️ u beautiful 😍😍😍😍.”
Deanna couldn’t help but feel proud of her daughter as she wrote, “Amazing 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏👏👏👏 this is the daughter I have raised 🤗🤗🤗🤗 #notobodyshaming #ihaveavoice #saynotobodyshaming #bodypositivity #ilovemybody so proud of you my @alannapanday 🤗🤗🤗🤗 everyone is beautiful in their own way, irrespective of their flaws .. we all have flaws and we all are beautiful humans, our flaws do not define who we are and no one is born perfect but we are all born beautiful and Gods children. Way to go girl 👏👏👏👏👏👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤗🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️❤️ love you unconditionally.” Way to go, Panday girls!
Here are some of our absolutely favourite looks of Alanna that are as fierce as her choices:
Fashion is personal. It’s a choice, a form of expression. She could wear layers of clothes or nothing at all, it is nobody’s business! Not your body = not your business. Period. Nobody gives anyone the right to tell you what your clothes mean or what consequences you should face for wearing them. Or not wearing them. To each their own.
