Aishwarya Rai Bachchan rarely makes public appearances with her daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan. But to commemorate the loss of her father to cancer, earlier in March this year, she decided to visit an NGO with Aaradhya. The visit had been planned because she decided to sponsor the surgery of 100 kids conceived with congenital fissures and palates. However, her charity event was cut short by the media’s insensitive behavior. And these pictures need no explanation.
As Aishwarya requested the cameraman to stop harassing the children, she couldn’t hold back her tears. Is this what reporting has come down to?
Indian media has a problem distinguishing between the personal and professional lives of celebrities, where did we lose sight of the line that separates them both? Especially when it comes to charity events and little children. The media is invited to press conferences that put celebrities in a good light, however isn’t it their responsibility to take into account the consent of this celebrity in question? As a country that is constantly battling for the freedom of speech, we sure are making the most of it [sic].
