Sometimes it is hard to believe that it’s the 21st century, since some folks still seem to be stuck in the 1950s. Every now and then, we stumble upon people who think it is okay to comment on women’s attires on a public platform in the name of humour. Here’s a PSA—it is never okay to make nasty remarks about what a woman is wearing. Period.
Recently, Deepika Padukone shut down social media influencer Freddy Birdy for making an offensive remark about the promotional events of her upcoming film Gehraiyaan. He made an inappropriate statement about Deepika and Ananya Panday’s sartorial picks for the film’s promos and it was totally uncalled for.
Freddy wrote, “Newton’s Law Of Bollywood – The clothes will get tinier as Gehraiyaan release date approaches” Needless to say, DP wasn’t pleased with the comment and instantly shut him down with a post on the ‘Gram!
Deepika shared, “Scientists say, the Universe is made up of protons, neutrons, and electrons. They forgot to mention morons.” While the actress didn’t name anyone in the post, it appeared that she was responding to Freddy’s post.
Earlier today, Freddy once again took to his Instagram and made a nasty comment about Deepika. He wrote, “Dear Deepika, I’m not “mocking you” for wearing tiny clothes. You can wear hemlines till your toes or your ears. For all I care. And thank you for calling me a ‘moron’. It’s the only non-fake thing you have uttered in your entire career. Love, Fred.”
Wow. There is so much we want to say about this post! First of all, Freddy’s earlier post was not just blatantly rude but also sexist. His second post is equally offensive as he just tried to ridicule Deepika’s response and that’s so disrespectful. Also, did he just imply that the actress has been making ‘fake’ statements throughout her career? NGL, this post is certainly not sitting well with us and we are honestly outraged.
Kudos to Deepika for keeping her calm and shutting down Freddy like a boss! You go, gurl.
