Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
Sounds cheery and optimistic, right? Well, that’s exactly what the nation needs right now–an exchange of positivity to deal with the rising coronavirus stress. And who would understand this better than our superhero doctors? That is exactly why 60 doctors from different parts of India joined hands and danced to Pharrell Williams’ song ‘Happy’ in order to spread some cheer to the masses amid the COVID-19 crisis.
The video was shared by a social media account called The Ministry of Memories on its Instagram handle to spread awareness, and comes with a message for people to not worry, as the doctors are doing every bit that they can to help us. The video titled ‘Song Of Hope’ features doctors from different hotspot cities like Bangalore, Pune, Nagpur, Surat, Delhi, Kochi, Kolkata, and Agra.

The reason why Indian doctors felt the need to come up with a video like this is that the uncertainty revolving around COVID-19 coupled with the lockdown has taken a toll on people’s mental health. Businesses are shutting down, people are losing their jobs, innocent lives are being lost, and to add to that we just do not know when will this end. All of this and more has triggered anxiety, depression, panic attacks, and insomnia among people. According to a recent survey conducted by the Indian Psychiatry Society, the cases of mental illness have risen by 20% during the pandemic.

Clearly, Indians need their daily dose of positivity and that’s why the video has received an overwhelming response from the audience. Take a look at some of the lovely comments which Instagram users have dropped on the post.
The total number of active coronavirus cases across India has surged up to 21,632 and the death toll is rising with every passing day. In the last 24 hours, 62 Indians have lost their lives to the fatal virus which is the highest jump in the figure so far. The entire city of Pune has now been declared a containment zone and the CMs of almost all the states have requested the PM to extend lockdown beyond May 3. With so much happening, it is our imperative duty to not just stay safe physically but also take care of our mental well being. Falling short of optimism? Share this video with someone who needs a ray of hope as much as you do. Try to comfort and assure people that everything is going to be alright. Hope is all we have right now.
