We have all been there. Hitting the snooze button for the 10th time, getting that few extra minutes of sleep. Seriously, the nap you take after you hit snooze should be called a power nap! Anyway, you’ve done that and now you’re supremely late. So you rush through your morning routine and think you will just have coffee on the way or the coffee at work. If you’re like me (which I hope you are), you will just skip makeup entirely, put on some tinted lip balm and hail mary your way through the day. BUT, there are those days when you DO have to put on a face. What do we do then? Well with trial and error I have come up with a five-step or rather a five-product makeup routine that will literally take you less than five minutes to do. You can do this in the cab if you don’t drive or in the parking lot just before you head to work!
So, if you’re lazy, like easy things or are a regular snooze-r, you better read ON!
1. Base
When you’re doing your makeup in the car, blending is always going to be a challenge. So I have two options; I don’t need as much coverage so I usually just smear on a BB cream or tinted moisturiser but if you need some coverage then an amazing cushion foundation is your best bet. It also comes with an applicator so you don’t even need a brush!
What you need: Ponds Flawless Radiance Derma+ BB Cream – Beige, Rs 375; Innisfree Long Wear Cover Cushion, Rs 900
2. Compact
Because I am in a hurry I usually do not set my face with a powder but if you need it you could just use a sheer compact.
What you need: Lakme Sun Expert Ultra Matte SPF 40 Pa+++ Compact, Rs 210
3. Bronzer
This is an important step for more than one reason, I use it to add colour to my face by contouring most of my face with it. But I also use it on my eyelid to give my eyes some dimension. While on the go, I don’t trust myself with an eyeliner or kohl pencil, especially when someone else is driving! I also prefer a powder bronzer over a cream one because I do skip the compact step usually, so this also helps set my base a little.
What you need: Wet n Wild Color Icon Bronzer SPF 15, Rs 525
4. Mascara
This opens up your eyes, you know that. But after you’re done using it on your lashes, don’t dip it back in the pot. Instead, take a tissue dab off some product and then with a light hand just use it to tame your brows. The light hand is important here, you don’t want a set of caterpillar black brows, do you?
What you need: Maybelline New York The Colossal Volum Express Mascara, Rs 399
5. Lip colour
You’d think I would use a stain here, but stains sometimes are very difficult to blend out. Instead, I use a cream finish or creamy matte lipstick and just dab the same on my cheeks as well. My go to would be a nude or pink, which works well as a blush and blends easily with just a few dabs. If I am being honest, I usually skip lip colour and opt for tinted lip balm. You can use that as a blush too! It gives like a barely there flush, try it!
What you need: NYX Professional Makeup Simply Nude Lip Cream, Rs 500; Ruby’s Organics Tinted Lip Balm – Cinnamon Oil, Rs 450
There it is, your face is ready to take on the day. Now go find that cup of coffee!
