The 83 Trailer Just Dropped & Here Are 5 Moments That Are Making Us Hella Proud & Emotional

The official trailer of the movie 83 released a few hours ago and if you have not seen it yet, then you need to watch it right away. The four-minute video clip is the best thing we’ve seen today and we are not exaggerating. It’s making us emotional, teary-eyed and giving us goosebumps.

The sports drama is directed by Kabir Khan and based on the legendary victory of the Indian cricket team in the 1983 World Cup. Former cricketer, Kapil Dev, led the team in the tournament and defeated the then reigning champions, West Indies. It was a win that no one thought was possible and hence, it’s a win that no Indian would ever forget.

Ranveer Singh will be seen as Kapil Dev in the movie and Deepika Padukone will play the role of his wife, Romi Bhatia. TBH, the glimpse of his performance in the trailer has us convinced that it will be his finest performance to date. Take a look:

The Transformation

The scene where Ranveer is introduced as Kapil for the first time is simply fantastic. From his curly hair to his accent, we are amazed by the actor’s transformation and think that he’s done a fab job while impersonating the former Indian cricket team skipper.

“Do & Die”

DP will be playing a cameo in the movie and her character will defs add a more personal touch to the film. We’re loving the way she’s explaining to her hubby that the correct term is “do or die” and not “do and die.” Their chemistry is going to be amazing and we cannot wait to watch #DeepVeer on our screen once again.

“Here To Win”

It’s quite a chilling moment when Ranveer as Kapil says during a press conference that his team is ‘here to win’ and no one takes him seriously. The Indian cricket team in 1983 went from being the underdogs to winning their first-ever World Cup. It was a legendary moment because no one believed they could do it. When Pankaj Tripathi, who’ll be seen as the team PR, says “35 saal pehle hum log aazaadi jeete, magar izzat jeetna baaki hai, kaptaan,” you’re bound to feel a rush of adrenaline.

A lot of us have not watched the matches of the 1983 World Cup and hence, it’s quite thrilling to see a fictional version of it in the movie. The instance when Kapil strikes a six and breaks the dressing room’s window is truly a whistle-worthy moment.
