5 Super-Easy DIY Projects That Will Brighten Up Your Skin, Hair, And Weekend!

The coronavirus pandemic has brought the world to a complete standstill. We’re living in a time surrounded by uncertainty, we don’t know when things will begin to normalize again. All we can do is stay home, stay safe and try to maintain a somewhat normal life.

For many of us, our normal life consisted of waking up, doing our skincare and makeup, and heading to work. The lockdown has brought our lives and routines to a complete deadlock. Many of us still don’t have access to essentials, so talking about buying beauty products at a time like this seems like a moot point. The new normal is heading to our kitchens for DIYs instead of salons and malls.

Not sure where to start? Whether you’re an experienced beauty user or a beginner, there’s a little something here for everyone.

5 Fun Beauty DIYs You Can Try Over The Weekend

Nothing better than a small DIY project to brighten up your day!

For those who can’t sleep

The lockdown has wreaked havoc on all our schedules. If you’re not busy stressing about what is to come, you’re spending time Netflixing till odd hours of the night. We could all use a little more sleepy time, right? If you’re anxious, nervous, or a light sleeper, a pillow mist might float your boat. A firm believer in aromatherapy will swear by the power of a good sleeping mist. Spray it on your bed linen and on your PJs before you hit snooze and allow the fragrance to drift you into a peaceful slumber. For this DIY, You need some essential oils and an old spray bottle.

If you don’t have any of the above oils, here are a few alternatives:

To give your sleeping mist a longer shelf life, keep it away from direct sunlight in a cool, dark place. Add 1tbsp vodka or witch hazel to make your concoction last longer.

For the frizzy and fuzzy

Missing your salon treatments and hair spas? We bet the added heat and humidity with summer right here isn’t making things any easier for your mane. If regular champis aren’t your thing, this deep conditioning hair mask is about to become your best friend. It’s going to leave your hair feeling soft, frizz-free and absolutely silky to the touch. All you need is a little Argan oil and hair conditioner.

Don’t have argan oil? Don’t stress. Almond, coconut, jojoba or even olive oil are great alternatives.

The process:

Take a big spoonful of hair mask or conditioner in a bowl, add a spoonful (or more, depending on your hair length) of oil to it. Try to use a conditioner which is free of parabens and sulphates. Give the oil-conditioner mix a good whip and apply it to your hair. Let it sink in for an hour or so while you finish your chores. Wash off with regular shampoo and skip conditioner.

Pro tip: If you want to do this salon-style, then shampoo your hair first, then towel dry and apply this mask from root to tip. Next, you want to give your hair steam. If you don’t have a steamer, use a blow drier on medium heat setting and run it along your hair. This will make sure the mask and oil penetrate deeper and soften the hair. Leave on for an hour and rinse off.
