After a tiring day, who wouldn’t love a drink or two? Well, after a long week your hair needs a cocktail too. But we aren’t referring to pouring a white Russian on your tresses. If you have curly hair, we understand how tiring it can be to find the perfect product that will do everything from reducing frizz, moisturising the hair and keeping it hydrated. While there is no one product that does it all, here’s where hair cocktailing comes to the rescue. Hair cocktailing is a famous trick that gives your curls everything it lacks while keeping it super hydrated and healthy.
What Is Hair Cocktailing?
Just like your favourite drink, hair cocktailing is all about combining store-bought products with raw ingredients to create your own personalized product. A little confused? Well, let us explain further. If you use a gel that’s meant for your curls, but it also dries out your strands, well in such cases instead of throwing away the gel, you can mix it with your leave-in conditioner. The fun part is you get to create your own product this way and even become a hair mixologist. Keep on reading to find out how you can create your own hair cocktail and get fabulous curls.
Hair Refreshers
If you have curly hair then you are well aware that a day or two after your hair wash, your curls tend to look lifeless and dull. Since washing your hair after every two days is out of the question, you can however create a hair cocktail that will bring your curls back to life. A light, moisturizing refresher, will do the trick as it will reactivate any product you previously applied and re-shape your curls.
Ingredients:
Distilled water
1-2 tbsp leave-in conditioner
Method
Using a spray bottle, fill it halfway with distilled water and later add your leave-in conditioner. Shake it well and spritz this hair cocktail whenever you feel like your curls need a little boost.
The Basic Hair Cocktail
You don’t need to buy fancy conditioner products to get amazing curls. Sometimes your regular products and a few ingredients from the kitchen will also do the trick.
Ingredients
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Method
Add the extra virgin oil to your daily conditioner and shake till it is mixed perfectly. You can apply this cocktail during your regular conditioning routine or even leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes.
Curl Enhancer
Don’t think your non-toxic products are doing the trick? Before you shift back to sulphates, give this hair cocktail a try. It will enhance your curls and keep them moisturised without drying out your strands.
Ingredients:
1 tbsp aloe vera gel
1 tbsp shea butter
1 tbsp coconut oil
Method
If you just want to eliminate the frizz, plain aloe gel will do the trick but if you want tighter curls, you can go ahead, and melt the shea butter in a bowl with hot water and add the aloe vera gel and coconut oil to dilute it a bit. Mix these ingredients well and apply the cocktail to your curls. You’re sure to notice a difference immediately.
So, ready for gorgeous hair?
