I’m not a morning person and that being said, I’m also always running late. I snooze my alarm more times than I would allow you to believe. This erratic behaviour in the morning leaves me with very little time to get ready. And I prioritise concealer over anything else in the morning, so that means my hair often takes a backseat. Fortunately, the vibe at the POPxo office is pretty relaxed so obsessing about my work-attire is the least of my worries. I either show up looking like a trainwreck or like I’m going to a fashion show. There’s absolutely no in-between.
The problem, however, is my hair and since I have a lot of it, it has a mind of its own.

Moodier than I am when I’m PMS’ing! My hair is fine, long and curly and my scalp is prone to flaking and it’s oily all year round. I have to wash my hair 3-4 times a week for it to look fresh–this is okay in summer but winters are really hard.
But being a full-time beauty enthusiast and hoarder has its perks and I’ve found some really awesome ways to skip washing your hair. I can make my hair look fresh without needing to shampoo. I can proudly report back that I now go 4 days without washing my hair and for me, that’s a BIG win!

3 Lazy-Girl Approved Hair Hacks
I’m too lazy to use any heat styling tools, so these hair hacks are easy, breezy and lazy-girl friendly. They won’t take you more than 5 minutes. I know you’re going to love them!
1. Dry Shampoo
Dry shampoo is a product that you will never see me without! I’ve got one stashed in the car, one in my office desk and a few at home. As a person with a perpetual greasy scalp, it’s hard to look your best when your hair doesn’t have your back. I can’t stop raving about the benefits of a good dry shampoo. It takes the oil out of your hair and gives it volume, bounce and movement. It can transform your limp lifeless hair in a few sprays. Just a word of caution, don’t apply too much or your hair will look matte and dry.
Application tip: The best way to apply dry shampoo is the night before. Generously mist it near your roots and go to bed. Wake up in the morning and brush through your hair. Alternatively, if you’re in a rush, apply dry shampoo to your roots and wait 2 minutes. Then, brush through your hair to distribute the product evenly.
2. Curling Mist or a Texturising Spray
A quick and easy way to style second, third or even fourth-day hair is to add some bounce and texture. You can do this easily by using a curling or a texturising spray. These work on all hair types straight, wavy, curly and even coily hair. For those beachy waves, use a curling mist. And for giving limp hair some volume, use a texturising spray. Just use these in moderation or your hair might end up a little crispy.
Application tip: A curling mist works best on damp hair, so spritz your hair with some water before you apply. Scrunch your curls into place. You can refresh this hairstyle the next day by misting it with some water.
3. Curl Cream
My personal favourite product to use every time I shampoo is a curl cream. As a curly-haired girl, I’ve made my peace with frizz. And if you don’t like to use heat styling tools then a really easy way to enhance your natural hair is to use a curl cream. If you have straight hair, this is going to make it look slightly wavy and textured. If you have curly hair, this will enhance and define each curl. Beach waves in a bottle, I say!
Application tip: For natural-looking glossy curls, mix equal parts of curl cream and hair serum on the palm of your hands and then apply!

Hair Tip: If you use a lot of product to style your hair, once a week use a clarifying shampoo to wash your hair. A clarifying shampoo basically strips your hair of all product build-up, dirt, oil and dust and gives your hair and scalp a reset. Don’t forget to condition after!
