From a convivial nightlife to rajma chawal to monuments, Delhi offers a gobsmacking basket of culture, history, cuisine, music, folklore, street life, nightlife and so on to keep the visitors engaged. It’s an all-inclusive city and you cannot NOT have fun in dilwalon ki Dilli.
On one end you’ll see people walking in Zara, H&M, Aéropostale and at the very next drop point, you’ll meet the talented bargainers at Sarojini Nagar Market and Palika Bazaar.
If you’ve visited the city before, you probably already know where to pick your chhole bhature from. However, if you’re visiting Delhi for the first time, here are a few things you shouldn’t miss in the capital!
Enjoy Your Time In Old Delhi

Getting lost in the narrow bazaars of Old Delhi is actually one of the most productive things you can do in the city. You won’t get out of that part of Delhi without eating or shopping. You’ll feel like you are wandering in the medieval period. Every new turn that you’ll take in those galis, you’ll find something new to take home. You will also stumble upon hidden wonders such as the home of legendary Urdu poet, Mirza Ghalib, India’s largest mosque, Jama Masjid or spice bazaar, Khari Baoli. While exploring, do look out for 18th-century hawelis and lip-smacking street food.
Embrace History & Art

The craftsmanship during the Mughal empire cannot be compared to that todays. So do spend your hours exploring Humayun tomb, Mughal gardens, Red Fort and Lodhi Garden. And while you are at it, do not miss the changing of guards on the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan. It happens every Saturday morning. The President’s bodyguard put on a display for a gathering of no more than 200 against the backdrop of the imposing Presidential palace. You can also visit Indira Gandhi Smriti, which is Indira Gandhi’s former home.
Visit the National Museum and be amazed by the artistic wealth of India. It has some astonishing collection of statues, paintings, wood carvings and other priceless crafts. And not-so-far from there, in the National Gallery of Modern Art you’ll meet the avant-garde side of art and artists.
Listen To Folk Music!

You may enjoy spending some quality time in cafes that feature live bands or visit Hauz Khas Village to enjoy live music. However, what you’ll never forget is the qawwali night at the dargah of Sufi saint Nizam-Ud-Din Auliya. Situated in the Nizamuddin West area of Delhi, devotional music takes over the faith of everyone around sunset. It’s even better when you visit the dargah around Basant (festival of spring) as the devotees are adorned with yellow robes and blooms.
Shop Shop Shop!

Are you a bargain queen? Then shop at Sarojini Nagar, Janpath market, Palika Bazaar and Chandni Chowk till the sun goes out and then shop more at the mesmerising labyrinth called Connaught Place. Also, visit Dilli Haat if you appreciate handmade wonders from different cities. The stalls keep changing from time to time so, no chance that you’ll ever be bored.
