1. Squeaky Clean Pores
Dead skin and dirt can result in larger or more noticeable pores or scars on the legs. Exfoliation can help address this issue and result in less obvious pores and lighten those dark dots. Glycolic acid-based scrubs are usually recommended as they exfoliate while smoothing the skin. These scrubs were originally derived from sugar cane. So, why not make a scrub yourself?
- DIY Sugar Scrubs
- 1. Mix 2 tbsp of sugar with 4 tbsp of olive oil.
- 2. Mix 1 tbsp of baking soda with 1 tsp of warm water.
- 3. Mix enough salt with buttermilk to make a paste.
- 4 Mix 2 tbsp of brown sugar, 2 tbsp aloe vera gel and 1 tsp lemon juice into a paste.
- 5. Blend equal parts of brown sugar and baking soda with water to make a paste.
2. Massage Is A Must!
Make sure to massage your legs regularly with moisture rich oils such as Vitamin E. Another idea would be to use a nourishing oil like olive oil and add a few drops of glycerin to make it an even better moisturizing formula.
3. Keep Shaving Sharp!
Women often notice visible darker pores after shaving, and this could be because they are using a dull razor. Make sure you are using a new, sharp razor if you are shaving your legs. This is because a dull razor is likely to pull the hair but not remove the hair follicle – leaving it open to dirt and getting clogged up. A top tip when shaving is to soak your legs in warm water for 5-10 minutes before you shave to open pores and hair follicles, draw out impurities and loosen dead skin cells.
4. Wax Away!
Instead of shaving, waxing is a better form of hair removal to consider. When you wax, the hairs are pulled out at the roots and grow in smaller, so your pores visibly shrink.

5. Moisturizing Is Most Effective
Dead skin and dirt can result in larger or more noticeable pores on the legs. So, after you have removed the hair or exfoliated the best thing you can do is moisturize! Many experts recommend a using an emollient moisturizer in conjunction with cold water to reduce the size of pores, this is because the lotion can help trap cold water that has soaked into the skin, extending the pore-shrinking effects. Be sure to moisturize regularly, as it really will help to give an overall smoother appearance!
6. Home Remedy Alert!
Peel and mash a cucumber and apply the cucumber juice to affected areas. After a few usages this mixture may help to reduce the colour of the dark follicles.
7. Bronzers And Body Makeup
Tanning is a process that actually proves to be most effective when trying to reduce the appearance of pores on the legs. While it may not always be convenient to go sunbathe and even out your skin tone, a product that works wonders is bronzer!
