WARNING: If you haven’t watched Avengers: Endgame yet, please don’t read any further because I am a nice human being and want to save you from the spoilers.
We all knew that Avengers: Endgame was going to put us through an emotional roller coaster, but I’m pretty sure that no one thought it would be this heartbreaking. So what was it that kept the audience so emotionally hooked? I made a list of instances that made each Avengers fan want to reach for a tissue or go aww. Let us know how many of these made you teary!
1. When Maguna Stark says “I love you 3000”
Everyone, literally, everyone who watched this movie knows what I am talking about. When Tony Stark’s daughter tells him, “I love you 3000” when he’s tucking her in, our hearts exploded. And then he says it back to her again at the end of the movie. Instant waterworks.
2. When Captain America wields Thor’s Hammer
We all knew he had it in him. Thor’s hammer, Mjolinr, can only be wielded by the worthy. Captain America, towards the end, proves that he is all of that and more as he summons Mjolinr while he fights the battle of a lifetime.
3. When the girl gang gathers to secure the gauntlet
When Spiderman is cornered by the enemy, he thinks it will be the end of him and the gauntlet will get into the hands of the enemy. But then all the women of Marvel come together. They have to transport and secure the gauntlet, and man, they do THAT and more!
4. When Thor meets his mother, one last time
When they travelled back in time to Asgard to secure the reality stone, Thor meets his mother who we know will die soon after. In an emotional scene, he has a heart-to-heart with her, which he hadn’t got a chance to do in the earlier timeline. It is then that he finds out that his mother knew all along what was to happen, and still thought he was worthy of summoning his hammer.
5. When Natasha (Black Widow) sacrifices herself for the Soul Stone
To acquire the soul stone, one needs to sacrifice a soul in return. Natasha, after an argument with Hawkeye, decides to sacrifice herself for the stone.
6. When Thor hands over the throne of Asgard to Valkyrie
Never in the history of Asgard (Thor’s kingdom) has a woman ruled the kingdom. Even Thor’s sister Hella never got the chance to sit on the throne. Among the many firsts in the latest Avengers movie, the God of Thunder hands over his kingdom to a woman, Valkyrie, who had assisted him in Thor Ragnarok.
7. When rescue shows up…
Pepper Potts donning the suit has been in the pipeline since the third Iron Man movie. However, things only get real in the last movie of the franchise when Mrs. Stark gets down to battle in the suit.
8. When Captain America has the long due dance with Peggy Carter
In 1945, he promised Peggy a dance once he was back from his mission. It takes him 80 years to finally keep his word, but he does. The loving dance in the end was a treat for every romantic!
9. When Iron Man dies 🙁
Iron Man’s death was definitely the most heartbreaking scene in the entire movie. Although Tony Stark ends up saving the world by wearing the infinity gauntlet and stopping Thanos, he ends up losing his life. However, his legacy will lives on. Love you 3000, Iron Man! <3
