Lipstick, coffee and concealer are my everyday makeup essentials. You won’t ever see me without them! Give a girl the right lipstick and she can rule the world, right?! Liquid lipsticks are the *IT* thing to buy if you’re looking for a popping pout all day long. Whether you’re a nude lover or are into fiery reds, there’s gotta be one liquid lipstick that will be calling out your name. But with the hundreds of formula’s available on the market, how is a girl supposed to choose?
Don’t worry we’ve got you covered… Here’s a comparison between some of our favourite, AFFORDABLE, liquid lipstick formulas!
1. Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick (Rs 625)
Wears For: 6-9 hours
If you are the one and done kinda girl, this is your lipstick. Apply it in the morning and you will slay all day! Even if you decide to go swimming or deep sea diving, this is one lipstick that ain’t coming off. You’re going to need an oil-based makeup remover to get this off at the end of the day. The formula on these lipsticks is a little thick, it takes about 10-15 mins to dry down completely and feels a bit tacky on the lips. If you like the feeling of weightlessness on your lips, you probably won’t like this because you can definitely feel that you’re wearing a lipstick. If you eat extremely oily food through the day, the formula will break down on your lips a little bit. But with mild eating and drinking, this lipstick isn’t going to budge! The colour lover and pioneer are my personal favourites. Lover is a mauve-toned pink and pioneer is a bold poppy red.
Pro Tip: Exfoliate your lips before you apply this and if you want it to last all day, apply it on bare lips. DON’T apply a lip balm before you apply this.
2. Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick (Rs 499)
Wears For: 5-6 hours
A liquid lipstick straight out of the USA drugstore, Wet n’ Wild is probably my favourite drugstore brand ever. The lipstick has an extremely lightweight formula that feels like nothing on the lips. It’s comfortable and matte and looks stunning. What makes it my favourite is that it’s priced at under Rs. 500! The colour rebel rose and nudist peach will appeal to all you nude lipstick loving ladies!
Pro Tip: Exfoliate before application to avoid cracking and settling in any fine lines.
3. Nykaa Matte To Last Liquid Lipsticks (Rs 550)
Wears For: 5-6 hours
A relatively new launch from Nykaa Beauty these liquid lippies have quickly multiplied in my collection! Every single shade in the range has been inspired by the cultural diversity in India. The lipsticks have a super cute packaging and stay put for approximately 5 hours. The formula is lightweight and you barely feel it on your lips. Bombae and Madras Kaapi are my favourite shades from the collection. They look even better when mixed and applied together! While this is not going to last you all day long, the lipstick will stay put through mild eating an drinking before starting to fade.
Pro Tip: The formula is a little bit drying on the lips, a facial oil or a drop of lip balm applied to your lips a few minutes before applying this is the best way to go.
4. NYX Professional Makeup Soft Matte Lip Cream (Rs 600)
Wears For: 3-4 hours
The NYX soft matte lip cremes are buttery soft lipsticks with intensely pigmented shades. From bold reds to understated nudes, the collection has it all. The lipsticks have a creamy, satin matte formula that applies well and stays put for 3-4 hours. The lipsticks are definitely not the most long lasting but they have a really great formula that I gravitate towards when my lips are feeling very dry. The shade Stockholm is my favourite ‘my lips but better’ colour and Copenhagen is that bold maroon-red lipstick we all love so much!
Pro Tip: These lipsticks usually get over in a month if you apply it daily. I’d recommend getting a backup of your favourite colour when they’re on sale.
5. Loreal Infallible Pro Matte Gloss (Rs 799)
Wears For: 2-3 hours
What this really is a hybrid between a liquid lipstick and a lip gloss. It’s not going to give your lips a glossy finish and neither is it going to give them a matte look. It’s somewhere in between. If you like long lasting lipsticks, you won’t like this because it wears off very easily. The formula does not dry down completely at all it’s very transfer prone. It will get stuck in your hair, transfer onto your hand, cup and any surface it touches. The collection has some really beautiful shades though I think people with very dehydrated lips will enjoy this formula the most. I love the colour bare attraction for days when I feel like wearing a light-nude lippie.
Pro Tip: Mix this in with one of your other super matte liquid lipsticks to make the formula slightly less drying on your lips!
