Who doesn’t want a picture-perfect wedding? One with just the right outfit, a gorgeous setting, breathtaking decor and amazing photography! Too much to ask for, you say? Well, not so much if you’re getting married to a wedding planner, or are one yourself! Statements like “I wish I had done this differently” or “I hope I had not done that at all” go out of the window when a wedding planner gets married. Aashna and Sheekher’s destination wedding at the Grand Hyatt Goa was like a real life fairytale, brilliantly photographed by The Photo Diary and perfectly planned by the bride Aashna and her team at Aash Studio.
Let us tell you a bit about the couple before diving into all the details of their super pretty wedding. Aashna, a wedding planner by profession, met Sheekher in London while he was pursuing his MBA. They dated for a while and had a very cutesy courtship period. When asked about how Sheekher proposed, this is what Aashna said:

“There wasn’t a formal proposal as such but Sheekher planned a trip to Sri Lanka and popped the question while we were snorkeling!”
That’s goals, literally. They went for a vacation, and came back with a wedding date. How cool is that!
Now that we know a little about the couple and their love story, let’s get to the most gorgeous beach wedding we’ve ever seen. We had a chat with the bride, and she gave us all the little details about her wedding and a lot more. Read on…
Tell us everything about your wedding planning…
“The wedding planning was a well thought-out process. Since it was a destination wedding in Goa (Grand Hyatt, Goa), all the functions were planned in advance. The wedding festivities began in the company of our families and close friends. Being a wedding planner was an added advantage as I was aware of all the challenges while organizing my wedding.
We started planning in March, around six to eight months ahead of our wedding. I was well-versed with all the preparations and hence, started planning for our big day way in advance.”
True that, Aashna! Planning a kickass wedding is a task, and only someone who has experience organizing it can truly understand it.
Pro tip for all brides-to-be: Planning in advance is the only way to avoid any last minute confusion and chaos.
Where did you get all your outfits and wedding jewellery from? Tell us everything…
“For my wedding, I chose to shop from designer boutiques in Delhi as I wanted to avoid big brands. I picked my jewellery from local designers. We wanted to create an identity for the wedding and hence, everything was personalized according to our tastes.”
That is indeed a very smart thing to do. Instead of spending a bomb on designer outfits, it’s better to save up and spend that money on something that you will cherish for a lifetime.
And now, let’s move on to the gorgeous pictures and the functions leading up to the big day.
Mehendi madness
Their mehendi was a small outdoor affair for family and friends who arrived in Goa a day before the main function. The venue was decorated with colossal flowers and was entirely done in shades of pink and purple, with candles hanging above — all creating a fairytale setting.
The bride wore a pretty white floral lehenga with a ruffled blouse. She accessorized with chunky earrings which made her look just so beautiful.
We think it is a great idea to host an intimate mehendi function with just close friends and family as it could get chaotic with too many people.
Sangeet – Where they danced the night away!
The sangeet was a fun-filled and a very colourful affair. The decor had shiny disco balls and sparkly lights which looked like so much fun. Dance performers entertained the guests, which was followed by a ‘cute’ performance by the couple.
The ‘kissing booth’ added a quirky touch to the overall disco themed décor and served as a photo booth for guests.
The bride wore a shimmery grey-white lehenga with stunning silver detailing all over. She accessorized her outfit with a gorgeous diamond set and we’re still swooning…
Shagun ki haldi
While the ‘haldi’ ceremony traditionally takes place in two separate locations, Aashna and Sheekher had theirs together. They curated the wedding of their dreams by ditching the cliches and following their hearts. We mean, just look at them!
Aaand the Big Day finally arrived…
The decor for this outdoor ceremony was quite contemporary and minimal. Right from the colours, to the flowers, everything was curated as per the couple’s taste. Both Aashna and Sheekher wanted a floral arrangement for the ceremony (and the mandap), and that is exactly what they got. Small pops of deep colors with fresh bright tones were the major highlight of the decor.
Aashna looked like a million bucks in her stunning red lehenga which had intricate zari embroidery all over. She accessorized her outfit with kundan jewellery which completed her beautiful bridal avatar. Her make-up was done by Deepti and Neetu, which made Aashna look like a real life princess.

Aashna and Sheekher’s wedding focussed on the smaller details that most couples tend to overlook. The decor included small cones full of rose petals hung on the back of every chair, for the guests to shower on the newlyweds. ‘Thank You’ notes were placed on every table which we feel is a novel concept.
It was not just a special day for the couple but a memorable one for the guests too who clearly, had a lot of fun!
Officially Man and Wife!
The grand reception had a forest themed decor which was entirely done in red and florals. The guests danced to some foot-tapping music while enjoying a glass of bubbly and delectable food. It was definitely a night to remember, with Aashna and Sheekher performing their first dance as husband and wife.
Aashna even chose to repeat her wedding lehenga for her reception, which we think is quite cool.
This was one of the prettiest Goa weddings we’ve ever seen. We wish Aashna and Sheekher a very happy married life ahead!
