Unless you’ve been living under a rather huge and oblivious rock, you have definitely been hit with the biggest news of the week. Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have finally tied the knot, and the internet has officially been broken by the stampede of well wishes, congratulatory messages, and umpteen blessings for the happy couple pouring in from fans all around the country!
While we still are still giddy with excitement on hearing the breaking news of the wedding (and maybe high-five each other for calling it when the rumours were ripe and true), allow us to give you all the deets and the info on the venue of the celebrity wedding that took place in one of the most romantic destinations in the world: Tuscany, Italy.
The Destination
It was three years ago, when in an interview, Anushka Sharma said she’d like to be wedded “somewhere in a vineyard, perhaps” if she were to have a destination wedding, and true to her wishes, the vineyards did indeed play a huge part in the wedding venue!
While the media buzz speculated that the wedding may take place in Milan, the actual destination is located just four hours south of Milan in a spectacular property that goes by the name of Borgo Finocchieto, situated an hour away from Tuscany.
‘Borgo’ translated as ‘village’ and ‘Finochietto’ meaning ‘orchard’, or ‘fields of fennel’ in Italian, is a celebrity-approved resort, part of a restored 13th Century village that has five villas.
Borgo Finocchieto is located 34 km from the Italian station Siena and is cosied right next to Italy’s wine capital: Montalcino. At one time, the resort can accommodate 44 people in 22 rooms, and we think that’s probably the reason not every family member and colleague of Virat and Anushka could fly in for the wedding in Italy!

The Splendour
The great Tuscan wedding, though resplendent, is no cakewalk when it comes to expenses. The medieval villa that Virat and Anushka have chosen for their big day sits comfortably on Forbes list of 20 most expensive holiday destinations around the world.
Spending one week at the Borgo Finocchieto can cost you a whopping 1 crore, with rooms that have the price ranging from Rs 6,50,000 to 14,00,000 per night. An hour from Florence airport, the resort also has a 60 feet oval swimming pool, spa, gym, and a tennis court.
The food
Catering for the Virushka wedding was put in charge of celebrity chef Ritu Dalmia, co-owner of popular Italian restaurant ‘Diva’ in Delhi. The menu which was an extensive South Indian spread had delectable in-house specialties from Dalmia’s restaurant, Cittamani, which included porcini mushrooms wrapped in bikaneri roti, and stuffed ravioli with paneer khurchan, among many other delicious creations; of course tailor-made for the lovely ceremony. How more perfect could this wedding possibly be?
The Borgo Finocchieto is completely booked until the 13th of December for Virat and Anushka’s wedding with Shahrukh Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, and Aamir Khan cited as among the few who are expected to arrive at the location. It is supposed to be the perfect wedding ever, with Tuscany all ready to sample a slice of Punjab in the midst of its beautiful orchards.
