The Supreme Court & Bollywood Celebs Are In Support Of Padmavati

We have some good news for everybody who cannot wait to watch Padmavati on the big screen. The Supreme Court of India has turned down the request to ban the movie. It has also issued a statement against the Chief Ministers and people speaking against it saying “those holding public offices should not comment on such issues.” According to them, it is only the prerogative of the national censor board to decide if the movie is suitable for screening or not!

The judges also said “When the matter is pending the consideration of the CBFC (Central Board of  Film Certification), how can persons holding public offices comment on whether CBFC should issue a certificate or not? That will prejudice the decision of the CBFC.”

Since the time of it’s announcement, Padmavati has constantly been in news. From vandalizing the sets to issuing threats against Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the fringe groups have stopped at nothing to ensure the magnum opus doesn’t see the light of the day. They even got the production house to delay the movie. But looks like their days of bullying are over.

On Sunday, the film industry, in a show of solidarity stopped shooting in a 15-minute blackout. They were expressing their support to the industry’s right to expression. Organisations such as Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA), Western India Cinematographers’ Association, Screen Writers’ Association, The Film and Television Producers’ Guild of India Limited, Association of Voice Artistes, Cine Costume & Make-up Artiste and Hair Dressers’ Association, Cine Singer Association, Movie Stunt Artistes Association amongst others participated in the protest Main Azaad Hoon? starting 3.30 PM.
