As if I wasn’t already struggling with adulting, the world keeps making it difficult by the day. Like today, for example, started with my usual early morning Twitter scrolling when I found out that Star India is pulling the plug on Channel V and replacing it with a Kannada sports channel. That’s right! Our very own Channel V!
All right, I will admit, it’s been a while since I lazed around in the house binging on Channel V shows but that still doesn’t change the fact that it was such a huge part of my life growing up. I take immense proud in the fact that I was one of the last freshly baked batch of the 90s, the ‘cool nostalgic’ kiddos who often take to Facebook reminiscing the good old days. Those were the days when rebelling against my desi parents was basically watching Channel V all day. From Lola Kutty aka Anuradha Menon (who happened to be my mother’s favourite too) to my first man crush on Purab Kohli to witnessing Aditya Roy Kapur in his early curly hair days to looking up at Juhi Pande with awe; from Simpoo Singh to Quick Gun Murugan to ‘itna paisa main itnaich milega’ – this channel had my teenagehood wrapped around its finger.
And people around India feel the same way, too! Most of them took to Twitter to express their disappointment.
1. The eras just keep ending!
Wrote my first ever TV show for Channel V, and was lucky to work with superstars @juhipande, Manish Anand, @ExLolaKutty, @mojorojo, @VarunmThakur and @thetanmay.
End of a goddamn era. :’)

5. Hell yeah!
In case any of you kids are wondering why a bunch of 30-40 year olds are reminiscing about Channel V, it’s because Channel V was OUR YouTube.
