Hair Trends
Go for braided or knotted ponytails
Yes, top buns and low buns are so passé. It’s time you go for braided or knotted ponytails this wedding season. For brides who don’t want to go over the top with hair accessories for their sangeet, they can opt for knotted ponytails.
Side parting, sleek back sets the trend
Got naturally straight hair? Aasif Ahmed suggests to save your hair from all that heat styling and opt for a sleek side parted hairdo. For the bride who wants to keep it natural, this is perfect. A sleek hairstyle like this would look great with a voluminous gown at your reception.
Haircare
- Make sure you wash your hair after every function in the night to remove all the product from your hair and be ready for the next event.
- Avoid using excessive heat for styling.
- Opt for some physical activity to avoid the wedding stress because it reflects on your hair health.
- Oil your hair as often as you can. A popular belief says coconut oil might freeze your strands. Although the oil tends to freeze in general, heat it up a little to let it melt for application. Another oil or an emulsifying agent can be added for smoother hair in winters.
- Don’t stop conditioning – Winters can strip your hair of its natural oils and leave your tresses dull and lifeless. Make sure to condition and use a leave-in hair serum or cream.
Consult a Trichologist six months prior
“A bride has to start taking care of her hair 6 months prior to her wedding. Consult a dermatologist or more specially a trichologist to understand your scalp and hair. Do what it takes to have the best hair you have ever had. The prep has to start at least two days prior to the beginning of the functions. Get a hair spa for an overall hair rejuvenating experience, so your hair is ready for heat and products that will be applied in the coming days,” suggests Aasif.
Hair Essentials
“Every bride has a different look that she opts for and similarly a hair stylist would have their own set of products that they’re comfortable using. But overall, a good finishing hair spray does the final trick. Hair spray, quality bobby pins for the hair accessories and gajras, a curler, hair straightener & a blow dry are few essentials that a bride should always have handy at her bridal suite just in case anything goes wrong,” shares Aasif.
