So it all started at Tel Aviv University, where an Indian guy, me, took admission to pursue his dreams to become successful in the field of medical research. During my course, I got selected to represent my university in Young Scientist Summit at Singapore. While preparing for the summit, I got in touch with another Ph.D. student, Dr Nia. We were both introduced to each other as aspirants for the summit from our universities and soon we started interacting over emails.
Few days later, I met her in Singapore. After the conference, post-dinner, I saw her for the first time. She looked radiant in her beautiful black dress. It was a formal meeting of course, but I was mesmerised by her. We hung out that night and for some reason, I felt extremely comfortable in her company.
For the next one week, we spent most of our time together after the sessions. And believe me, every time I met her, I felt like I was with a friend – a friend who I can be crazy with, a friend who I can be naughty with and a friend who I can be myself with…
After the summit got over, I flew back to India and she went back to Israel. But we kept in touch over WhatsApp. By that time, we both knew something was going on between us and 15 days later, I went to Israel. I still remember the date. It was 11th February. My flight landed at the Ben Gurion Airport, and right when I stepped out of the airport, I saw her text on my phone and we decided to meet each other that night over drinks. She came over to my place and I can’t tell you how happy I was to see her.
We discussed about how she wanted to go to USA for further studies, among other things. Soon after a few drinks, things got a little hot and heavy. We came close to each and the next thing you know, we were kissing each other. For a moment, I stopped and thought as to what were we doing but she leaned towards me and we started kissing again. This time the kisses were more passionate and we didn’t realize when or how, but soon we were having sex. It was one wild experience if you ask me until one of my neighbours knocked on my door and complained (yeah, we were THAT loud). Anyway, that evening was one of the best evenings in my life.
We had sex few times after that and then suddenly, one day, she announced she had gotten into a university in the US. I was happy for her but at same point, I felt let down. She did mention about leaving Singapore once but she never told me that she’s actually moving to the States until the time she just had to go. I had to make my peace with it and so I wanted to give her something special before she left. I bought her a keychain that was a symbol of the happy times we spent together.
And that was the last time I ever saw her. After one month, she texted me and told me that she’s dating another guy. I was heartbroken.
It’s been five months, and we haven’t gotten in touch with each other. I realized that I had fallen in love with her more than ever. But by the time I could communicate this to her, she had already changed her number.
Now all I wish for is that she is happy in her life. Until then, I will wait for her…
