1. Dip your mascara tube in a glass of hot water to thin out the formula. This will make application easier
If the formula is a little runny rather than clumpy, applying it to the lashes will not only be easier, but it will swipe on easily. Also, if you’re down to the bottom of your mascara tube, this process will help the formula stuck on the insides of the tube to loosen, so that you can use even the last bit of it efficiently.

2. Wipe off the excess mascara from the brush on a tissue to avoid clumps
New mascaras tend to be a little clumpy during the first few uses. It’s best to wipe off the extra product on a clean tissue before you apply it to your lashes. This will help you avoid clumpy eyelashes.

3. Use a clean toothbrush to de-clump your mascara post application
Now, if for some reason your mascara feels thick on your lashes, use a clean toothbrush to comb through your lashes from root to tip. This will extract the excess product from your lashes and tadaaa – back to gorgeousness.
4. Add a few drops of saline solution to your flaky mascara to moisten it
If your mascara is getting flaky and dry for some reason, the application will definitely not be upto the mark. To avoid that, add a few drops of saline solution to the tube and shake it well. It will make the formula as good as new and help in smooth application.
The Re-Nu Fresh Multipurpose solution works best for this purpose. Get it on Amazon for Rs 540 only.
5. Use waterproof mascara on top of a coat of regular mascara to make it last longer
Yes, this is something most of us didn’t know! Waterproof mascaras are great for holding curled lashes in place and obviously don’t smear throughout the day, but they are a pain to remove. To avoid such situations, we suggest you apply your normal mascara first and finish with a coat of the waterproof one. It will make taking it off super easy.
6. Coat both sides of lashes to thicken them
This one is simple, right? Do not just coat the base of your lashes. Apply a layer of the mascara underneath and above your upper lash too, especially if you have very thin lashes. This will make your lashes look voluminous and give them a fuller look.
You can also use the Maybelline New York Volum’ Express Falsies Mascara to get super thick and long lashes. It’s available on Nykaa for Rs 525.
7. Brush your lashes with translucent or baby powder between two coats to add volume to them
Translucent and baby powders have a tendency to grip, so they stick onto your lashes in between each coat of mascara, making them appear more voluminous. It’s a great tip, you MUST definitely try this one.
8. Gently swipe the tip of a cotton swab over a dried mascara mistake instead of rubbing on it while it is still wet
Since we are not make-up experts, we are bound to make some rookie mistakes during application. So if you make a mascara mistake, let it dry first before gently swiping a cotton swab over it. This will help you not ruin your eyeshadow while getting rid of the mascara smear..

10. Hold a spoon under your eye when applying mascara on your lower lashes to avoid getting mascara stains on your cheek
Place a spoon below your eye with the curved side facing out, and then apply your mascara like you normally would to your lower lashes. This will prevent the mascara from staining your skin. You can repeat the process while applying mascara to your upper lashes too. Genius, right?
