Honeymoon is the one vacation in your life that should be just perfect. From the destination to the hotel, sightseeing and the food, there is no scope for error! We recommend exploring India for your honeymoon destination and leaving the international travel to a later date. The plus side? You’ll be cutting down on your travel time and cost. Which also means you can stay at a luxury property! Which, we swear, will be totally worth it 😉
1. Goa
It’s time to break up with Baga beach. Goa has quite a few gorgeous, unexplored beaches, like Butterfly and Arambol, that’ll give you the privacy and serenity needed after the madness of Indian weddings. While Butterfly can only be reached by boat, Arambol has a bohemian feel and is lined with pretty cafes and bars.
Must Do: The Saturday Night Flea Market at Arpora. Lots to shop, eat and drink, along with live music. Arrange for a romantic candlelight dinner on the cruise that starts from Panjim. Visit The Casino Royale if that’s your thing. Spend an afternoon exploring Old Goa’s churches or opt for water sports on the beach. Ooh, and feni. You’ve got to have some and bring some for all your peeps back home.
Stay At: Taj Exotica Goa – Rs 17K/night, Little Palm Grove – Rs 9K/night

2. Udaipur
Foodies at heart? Head to Udaipur. You’ll get the yummiest food ever in the perfect maharaja maharani setting. Think camel rides and royal palaces to cosy up in with your hubby and lazy, long afternoons in the pool.
Must Do: Take a tour of the Udaipur Lake Palace and Udaipur City Palace. There’s also tons of shopping. Try the epic laal maas, camel rides and the Sound and Light Show at Kumbhalgarh Fort.
Stay At: Shiv Niwas Palace – Rs 18K/night, The Amargarh Udaipur – Rs 8K/night
3. Kashmir
No honeymoon list will ever be complete without a mention of Kashmir. While it is blessed with natural beauty, there’s also tons of other activities for the two of you. Besides, think about the snuggling and cuddling under layers of mink blankets!
Must Do: Bollywood style romance on the shikaras – you’ve got to do that! Then there’s skiing and paragliding for the adventure junkies. We also highly recommend picking up at least one Kashmiri kaftan. It looks absolutely fab. Must try shufta, an authentic Kashmiri delicacy that’s just yumm.
Stay At: The Lalit Grand Palace, Srinagar – Rs 14K/night, Hotel Heevan, Srinagar – Rs 9K/night

4. Andaman and Nicobar Islands
Newlyweds opt for Thailand and Malaysia even though we have something wayyy prettier back home. Dense mangrove forests, pristine blue water and crystal clear sand. The Andaman and Nicobar islands define the term exotic.
Must Do: You know what’s a perfect way to kickstart your new life? Lazing around all day on the beach, a cocktail in hand and not a care in the world. Ross and Smith islands are a great spot to sunbathe. You must also explore the sea life and go snorkelling or scuba diving. You can’t not do that, it’s an experience of a lifetime.
Stay At: Munjoh Ocean Resort, Havelock Island – Rs 12K/night, Fortune Resort Bay Island, Port Blair – Rs 7K/night
5. Kerala
Kerala will make you fall in love. Like, all over again! Scrumptious seafood, Ayurvedic spa sessions, and gorgeous handicrafts, God’s Own Country has lots of it. You won’t get the crazy party scene but Kerala has everything else.
Must Do: You definitely can’t miss the Alleppey houseboats or the tranquil backwaters of Kumarakom. Check out the spice plantations in Munnar or coffee homesteads in Coorg. There’s elephant bathing in Kodanad and also Periyar Jungle Jeep Ride for animal lovers. And if you love nature as much as we do, you’ve got to pay a visit to Athirappilly falls near Thrissur, also called the Niagara Falls of India. It’s gorge!
Stay At: Niraamaya Retreats, Kovalam – Rs 18K/night, Manaltheeram Ayurveda Beach Village, Trivandrum – Rs 6K/night

6. Shillong
The quaint capital of Meghalaya, Shillong is circled by cheery vibes of music and magic. It’s on our ‘must see before I die’ list and is the perfect place to chill after the wedding.
Must Do: Do not to miss cafes and clubs with live music. We hear Cloud 9 is quite dope and features new DJs and live bands every week. Boating on Ward’s Lake with its lush surroundings is equally enchanting. Winter months also call for regular beer and music fests, so you’ll be spoilt for choice!
Stay At: Ri Kynjai – Rs 7K/night, Royal Heritage – Tripura Castle – Rs 4K/night
