What You Need
- A high-wattage blow-dryer.
- A wide tooth comb to detangle your hair
- A styling comb
- Hair serum
- Volumizing mousse (if you have fine hair)
- Sectioning clips
- A medium-sized round brush with a long handle.
- A shine spray
And Here’s How To Do It
Wash and condition your hair as normal. Sit down comfortably facing your dresser, relax and take a deep breath. You can do it!
Step 1: De-Frizz!
After you’ve towel-dried your hair, apply a coin-sized amount (or more, depending on the thickness of your hair) of the serum with your fingertips to the length of your hair. Now is the time to apply the volumizing mousse if you need it. This will help give added shine and more gloss to your hair (but remember not to apply it to your scalp). Detangle with a comb. Be gentle!
Step 2: Blast Dry
Once you’ve gotten rid of the knots, bring out your hair dryer. Use it without the nozzle to blast dry your locks while running your fingers through them.
Your hair should be about 70% dry before you start blow drying.
Step 3: Divvy Your Hair Into Sections
For a better and longer-lasting effect, you should work through your hair in sections just like the pros. Create a centre parting and divide your hair into 4 sections – 2 in the front and 2 at the back. Clip up 3 sections and start blow drying your first section at the back.
Always start with the lower sections and then work your way up
Step 4: Work The Round Brush
Attach the nozzle back on the dryer, bring out your round brush and get ready to work some magic. Wrap your roots around the brush and pull your hair taut, while pointing the nozzle at it. Keep brushing them out in this way till they are dry.
Once the roots are done, it’s time to work on the lengths. Repeat the same process – wrap the lengths of your hair around the brush and pull outwards before doing this with the ends.
Do this with every section, working from back to front.
While drying and brushing, pulling your hair away from your scalp helps give it that va-va voom volume.
Step 5: Volume On The Top
After you finish the front 2 sections, take your round brush and lift your strands along the crown area vertically upwards, while pointing the nozzle directly at it. This will give it some shiny bounce.
Step 6: Finishing Touches
Once your hair is completely dry and styled, finish with a blast of cool air. This helps seal the style, plus it adds shine. You can add a glossy finishing spray if you like.
Voila, you’re done! With a bit of practice you can tame your mane for shiny, sleek hair perfectly – whenever you want. Plus, your arms will be super-toned from all the exercise they’re getting!
